Phillip “Flip” Hayner received his BA in Music Performance from Piedmont University in NE Georgia. Since graduating in 2005, Hayner headlined and was the main songwriter for the band Ramblewood, a rock/indie ensemble based out of Atlanta, GA. After some short-lived success, he moved on to a career in IT, unsure of the financial prospects of a music career.
During this time, however, he continued pursuing his passion as a hobby, studying composition briefly with Pulitzer Prize winning composer, Leslie Bassett. He studied with several jazz guitarists, Internationally acclaimed classical guitarist Mary Akerman, and flat-pick guitar with Grammy nominated guitar trailblazer, Russ Barenberg. He also enjoys playing jazz/blues piano.
After eight years serving as an IT Executive in Financial Services, Hayner decided to pursue his true passion, and Brave New World - The Musical is his first foray into the musical world. He currently resides with his family in Asheville, North Carolina.
